Penjajahan Minda & Bumiputra-ism
Spurred by a fellow bloggers ranting about following political news internationally, I now again wish to harrass insult criticize my fellow Muslim Warganegaras (check your IC, if it states your race or your status as bumiputra than you must be an illegal immigrant, either that or I lost my bumiputra privelages, in which case, HOORAY)
So if you’re a fellow Muslim Warganegara who wish to see what this is all about or you are some other kind of racist bastard from some other race who like to see Muslim Warganegaras get bashed (admit it you dark brown/yellow buggers), or just plain curious, please continue reading
Do note that my constantly wondering and incoherent mind might result in points that actually support whatever I’m criticizing, but then again, there is always pros and cons to everything.
Now, throughout my on going time as a student in a formal education system, the concept of “Penjajahan Minda” (Mental Conquest or something) has been repeated and put forward several times, though never fully explained. This concept says that, after hundreds of years of being ruled by bloody Westerners, we are still not free from the western mentality.
OMAIGOD, WESTERNERS BE HAVING MIND CONTROL POWERS
Okay that was exaggerating, but still.
So what exactly is it about thinking like a westerner that comes under the terms ‘Penjajahan Minda’?
Is it about how we have relationships? (Valentines, touchy-touchy, fornication, condoms, dating)
- Valentines? Yes it is a bloody western concept, but I dont give a crap about it. But even if it is a Christian thing or something overly commercialised, if it brings two people together in a nice loving way, whats the harm.
- Fornication? Hell fornication has been around a long time la dear Muslim Warganegaras, it existed in Arab when the Prophet was around, and I’m sure it existed after he passed away, and I’ll be damned if anyone dare say that there is no such thing as fornication back in the good old kampung days before the Portugese and the Brits and the Dutch and the whatever came. Then again stupid youngsters scaring the shit out of me by fornicating at such a young age might have been a result of western pornography and the internet.
Is it the way we speak?
- Yes having a fake accent is an annoying thing to deal with and I will slap you if you were doing it cause it’s “cool”, but some people actually have fucking accents because that is actually how they speak, even if it does sound like that person some stupid valley girl bimbo. And English is an international language now innit? So is using English words, talking in English wrong?
Is it the way we dress and present ourselves?
- Ok, you have me here, most casual clothes today are most likely of western origin, and our concept of what is proper attire is bloody western (exceptions include religious and cultural events) which is why I cant walk around town wearing a sarong even if I wanted too unless I had balls of steel (in which case my balls of steel will be nicely aired by the awesomeness that is a sarong)
So yes, the western world, just as many other parts of the world does have influence over us. But why the hell do most of the people do the complaining either
a) enjoy western media in some form or other
b) wear western clothes
c) eat western food
and or
d) speak english, even if it horrible broken english, when needed to.
If you bastards were serious, you would all fail in Che Guevara’s class of revolution.
Don’t like burgers? Makan la satay.
Think English is the language of foreign colonialist bastards? Hidup perjuangan Bahasa Melayu!! Oh wait, bahasa is an Urdu word.. macam mana ni?
And now on to Bumiputra-ism
Now, I for one do not give two shits about Malay rights and privelages, I feel as though I would dishonour my ancestors* if I did. While I have indeed been subject of such privelage, such as being in the top science class when Form 4 started despite sub par grades because of a Malay quota I never knew existed (Of course I then transfered to the 2nd class** because I wanted to learn IT, which I qualified for on my own merit) , I still don’t give two shits about it and think of it as a derogatory concept which is un-Islamic.
So why do a lot of Muslim Warganegara people care about this derogatory and un-Islamic thing?
More importantly, why do Muslim Warganegaras who only qualify as Bumiputra thanks to the constitution care?
Let me explain what I mean. My paternal grandmother is chinese. Her family has been here since the time of Yap Ah Loy, and possibly even before. So thats, 130-200years and beyond maybe? Whether or not my grandmother is now considered Bumiputra is something I never bothered to find out, but her siblings and other relatives of the same family tree who are not Muslims sure as hell are not Bumiputra.
On the other hand, Syed Hamid Albar the Home Minister, who is an UMNO man and therefor outspoken about Bumiputra rights (http://www.malaysianbar.org.my/legal/general_news/apologise_syed_hamid_tells_zaid.html) is only the first generation of his family to be born in Malaysia. His father migrated to Malaysia from Indonesia sometime after World War 2 while in his 30’s***. So why the hell does Syed Hamid Albar, and the Indian Muslims, and alot of other immigrants from what is now known as Indonesia, and well “Malays” in general who have only been here for one or two generations get to be called Bumiputra when my Grandmother’s family can trace their presence in Malaysia for much longer? Think about that you silly racist bastards.
The end
* I am as mixed as rojak, I am truly Malaysian. XD
**The disaster that was me and my friends caused a 5th science class, in which IT and LK students were shoved into, to be created after we graduated. Ironically I somehow predicted this when I was in Form 5 when I mocked the vice-principals mocking of us
*** ‘Lee took a swipe at his politics by arguing “According to history, Malays began to migrate to Malaysia in noticeable numbers only about 700 years ago. Of the 39% Malays in Malaysia today, about one-third are comparatively new immigrants like the secretary-general of UMNO, Dato’ Syed Jaafar Albar, who came to Malaya from Indonesia just before the war at the age of more than thirty.’ OMAIGOD WIKIPEDIA ZIKRI IS A STUPID FELLOW FOR BELIEVING THIS
